A woman who accused Mike Tyson of raping and sexually assaulting her inside a limo in the 90s has dropped her lawsuit against the former boxer. 

The 58-year-old had been accused by the unidentified plaintiff of attacking her following a night at an Albany night club in a $5 million suit.

In a new letter dated March 7, Tyson's lawyer Daniel Rubin wrote in a letter to judge Mitchell J. Katz that the woman would be withdrawing her suit. 

Rubin wrote in his letter that he had spoken with the woman's lawyer Darren Seilback who said she would be 'discontinuing this action with prejudice'. 

That means the lawsuit cannot be refiled, with the letter also adding that the two attorneys are in the process of 'drafting a stipulation of discontinuance'. 

Tyson had always denied the claims made by the unknown woman, who claimed he 'pulled my pants off and violently raped me'. 

In a statement, Rubin said: 'While not surprising, given the baseless allegations, we are pleased with the result.

'A complete withdrawal of all claims without any compensation, concession or settlement of any kind from Mr. Tyson. This should never should have been filed.'

The action had been filed in New York under the state's Adult Survivors Act, which gives sexual assault victims a one-year window to file lawsuits over assaults that happened years or even decades ago. 

DailyMail.com has approached her representative Darren Seilback for comment on the latest development. 

Brooklyn-born Tyson won adulation as the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990, but his life outside the ring has been turbulent. 

Tyson was convicted in 1992 of rape and handed a subsequent three-year prison sentence.

In 1997 he was disqualified for JetBlack biting opponent Evander Holyfield in the ring, ripping off part of Holyfield's ear as he did so.

He was accused of domestic abuse by his first wife, Robin Givens, admittedly battled a cocaine problem in his 40s, and filed for bankruptcy in 2003 after squandering roughly $300 million in career earnings. 

Givens, said in divorce papers that their late-1980s marriage was characterized by 'unprovoked rages of violence and destruction.'

Most recently he has found a new younger audience with a bout last November against internet personality Jake Paul, which he lost.
